So many THANK YOUS!

Well, I told you I would tell a little more of Emily MengYan's story, so here it is.
Em as found abandonded, at a Social Welfare Institute in China. She was very ill. The photo we have of her at that time is horrifying. She was 16 months old, and weighed less than 12#. She was dying. Her Beta Thal had not been diagnosed at that point. Her body had quit making the fetal hemoglobin, which was normal, and was now producing beta thal hemoglobin which could not sustain her.

Once she was officially diagnosed, things looked bleak for her, as funding twice a month blood transfusions for a orphan with little chance of being adopted was not something China was excited about.

Along came Emily MengYan's heros. Bonnie, an amazing mom of 2 daughters from China, came forward and vowed to fund MengYan's transfusions, and to get her into a facility that could care for her medical needs. Bonnie got together a band of fatastic Changde families, and also found support through an amazing ministry called Packages of Hope. These wonderful people sold baseball caps, bracelets, jewlrey, held lemonade stands, and even wrote and printed a book.....all to cover Em's medical expenses, and her new housing at the Philip Hayden Foundation. WOW! In essence, these beautiful people are THE reason Emily MengYan is still with us today, and is able to be our daughter!

Words cannot ever be enough to thank these angels. Know that you hold a VERY special place in our hearts, and that we will make sure Emily knows what you have all done for her. Your heavenly reward will be great, I promise, as your kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed by The Almighty God! He smiles upon you, I am sure of it!

One more note....many of you have asked about her name, Emily. Some of you know that we were planning to stick with our Irish name theme, and call her Brenna MengYan. Emily is MengYan's English name, and the folks above held many fundraisers for her under the name of "Emily". After lots of prayer and a family vote, we have decided to keep her name Emily, as a tribute to those of you who already know and love her as Emily!
